The FSB detained a Ukrainian intelligence agent in the DPR on suspicion of treason.
Employees of the Russian FSB directorate for the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have detained a local resident suspected of treason and preparing a terrorist act in the interests of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This was reported on November 19 in the press service of the department.
"It was established that the detainee collected information about the locations of Russian military personnel and transmitted them to representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine via the Telegram messenger," the report says.
According to the investigation, the accused, on the instructions of Ukrainian curators, extracted components for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices from caches. He also carried out surveillance on a high-ranking official of the regional government and planned to commit a terrorist attack.
Criminal cases have been initiated under articles on high treason, preparation for a terrorist act and attempted crime. Investigative and operational measures are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the criminal group's activities.
Earlier, on November 17, it was reported that law enforcement agencies detained a resident of the Tula region, who transferred cryptocurrency to the armed forces of Ukraine. According to the FSB, a criminal case was opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"). The suspect was taken into custody.
