Electric car maintenance turned out to be 30% cheaper than the hybrid
The average cost of repair and maintenance of popular electric vehicles amounted to 5973 rubles in the first ten months of 2025, it increased by 24% year-on-year. At the same time, the average check for popular hybrid cars was 8586 rubles (+9%). Thus, a fully electric car costs more than 30% less to maintain than a gasoline-electric one, analysts at Avto told Izvestia.<url> Business" and the Fit Service network on November 19.
The average repair and maintenance bill for popular electric cars and hybrids increased by 11% over the year to 7,380 rubles. However, the maintenance of cars with internal combustion engines is becoming more expensive faster: the total average receipt for the first ten months of 2025 increased by 17%, to 11.8 thousand rubles.
"Maintenance of an electric vehicle is cheaper, as there is no need for regular oil, filter changes and many other work typical for cars with internal combustion engines or hybrids. In addition, most electric cars in Russia are new cars that are used much less frequently. Electric cars often become the second or even the third car in the family. All this leads to the fact that electric car owners turn to the services much less frequently, and the list of jobs is usually limited to basic maintenance and seasonal procedures," explained Nikita Rodionov, technical director of the international franchise network of car service Fit Service.
Tire service has become the most popular service among electric car owners: the number of calls to service stations is growing sharply in the spring. Also, most often electric vehicles needed work on the chassis: replacement of the front suspension levers and replacement of the external stabilizer bars of the front suspension.
Experts said that summer was the most expensive period for owners of hybrids — from June to August, average receipts increase significantly. This is due to the growth of tourist trips and the summer season: drivers prepare their cars for long distances: they seek diagnostics and standard maintenance (replacement of filters, technical fluids, pads).
Earlier, on November 17, it was reported that for the year from October 2024 to October 2025, the average cost of a used electric car decreased by 19.1% to 3.39 million rubles, and the plug-in hybrid — by 16.9% to 4.41 million rubles.
Prior to that, on November 11, it became known that sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) had set a record high in the entire history of observations.
