- The State Duma pointed to a sign of the impotence of EU leaders on the Ukrainian issue.
European leaders are asking the United States to impose sanctions against Russia out of impotence. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, expressed this opinion on Tuesday, November 18, responding to a call from Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are being defeated, and the situation is getting worse every day.
"European leaders, seeing the impasse of the policy they are pursuing in the Ukrainian case, are now looking for all possible ways to try to get out of this situation. Therefore, they are probably already turning to [US President Donald] Trump out of impotence to, if possible, with his help, solve these problems into which they have brought this situation, which they have also deployed," the parliamentarian said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Earlier, on November 17, Stubb called on the United States to impose new sanctions against Russia to pressure Moscow on the issue of negotiations on Ukraine. He also stressed that he considers pressure on Russia and continued assistance to Ukraine "the best way to bring the truce closer."
The Finnish president also said that sooner or later Europe will have to hold direct talks with Russia, NSN reports.
In turn, journalist Thomas Fasey criticized Stubb's call to increase pressure on Russia, RT reports.
