Sobyanin assessed the progress of work on the renovation of the Torpedo stadium

The investor plans to complete the reconstruction of the historic Torpedo stadium in the third quarter of 2026, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. The works have reached the finish line, the mayor wrote in his channel in the MAX.

"As part of the current comprehensive reconstruction, Torpedo will be transformed into a modern football arena for national and international competitions," Sobyanin stressed.

The central arena with 15,000 seats and artificial turf of the highest category will meet the standards of the RFU and the requirements of UEFA, the mayor said. A full-size and small training fields with artificial turf and heating will be set up next to the stadium.

The construction readiness of the facility is 70%, Sobyanin noted. Monolithic works, installation of metal structures, roofing, the main covering of the central playing field and a large training field have been completed at the facility. Also, the facade work is almost completed, finishing and landscaping are underway.

Torpedo is one of the oldest football stadiums in Moscow. It was built in 1959 for the training of the ZIL factory football team. The stadium was expanded for the Olympics-80, and later partially renovated for the first World Youth Games in 1998.
