Rosatom announced plans to continue strengthening Russia's nuclear security
Rosatom State Corporation will continue to strengthen Russia's strength and power, thereby ensuring its security. This was announced on November 18 by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev during the laying ceremony of the nuclear icebreaker project 22220 Stalingrad.
"We intend to <...> firmly continue to strengthen Russia's strength and power, ensuring its security," Likhachev said.
He added that he would develop peaceful nuclear technologies that would guarantee Russian leadership in the Arctic region.
Earlier, on May 21, Likhachev announced that Rosatom would provide a nuclear shield for Russia. According to him, the work to protect the country's sovereignty, its defense capability, and the maintenance and development of the "nuclear shield" continues at the proper level. In addition, Likhachev said that Rosatom plans to increase the share of nuclear energy in Russia from 20 to 25% by 2040. He specified that nuclear power plants will appear in Siberia and the Far East.
