The Russian Armed Forces evacuated eight civilians from Krasnoarmeysk
Soldiers of the 71st separate special purpose battalion of the Center group of forces evacuated eight civilians from Krasnoarmeysk, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on November 18 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"Military personnel <...> evacuated a group of civilians who had been waiting for almost a year for the opportunity to reunite with their families, leave the war zone and start a new life," the military department said.
The operation was carried out by soldiers of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army. The evacuation under the cover of fog was carried out by junior Sergeant Dmitry Grebnev, while the route was checked in advance by operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). All eight people were taken to a safe area and placed in a temporary accommodation facility, where they received the necessary assistance.
Alexandra and Nikita Ivanov, evacuated from Krasnoarmeysk, described the harsh living conditions under shelling. According to them, the Ukrainian military regularly shelled residential areas and shops.
"We passed a swamp, mud, everything. We passed through the woods. We walked 200-300 meters, and there were mines behind us. But everyone came safe and sound," Alexander said.
Viktor Melnichenko, another evacuated resident, noted the help of the Russian military, who immediately organized electricity and communications after the liberation of the city. This allowed people to contact their relatives for the first time in months.
"We haven't left the basement for months. They tried not to come out, because who are we to them? Waiting for you, enemies, and the like. It was possible to catch a drone, and they could have shot it," Viktor shared.
Nikita Teterin, a scout for a separate special forces battalion, described in detail the preparation and conduct of the operation. The military conducted a briefing for civilians and chose the safest route with fog cover.
"A group of eight people was prepared and brought out of Krasnoarmeysk. There was a brother and sister between the ages of 18 and 20 <...> Everyone is happy and satisfied. We've been waiting for this for a long time," Teterin said.
On the same day, soldiers of the Center group of forces captured two Ukrainian servicemen disguised in civilian clothes in Krasnoarmeysk. The captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) stated that they had been left without support, but during the search they found items indicating looting. Looted items turned out to be in the duffel bags of the Ukrainian servicemen: household appliances, old turntables, screwdrivers, laptops.
