Lukashenko criticized Belarusian officials for "excessive Sovietism"
Belarusian officials should have abandoned "excessive Sovietism" in their reports and formal approach to work long ago. This was stated on November 18 by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on the development of the Pripyat Polesie districts.
As the head of state noted, when reporting on what has been done, it is important not just to use funds from the budget, but to demonstrate concrete results.
"This requires specific measures, enterprises that will contribute to the creation of new jobs (although this is not the most important thing today), and the development of Polesie for centuries, forever," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.
Lukashenko recalled that the Polesie development program was developed until 2030 and was his key election promise. In its implementation, a sober financial assessment is required: "We must always remember whether we have the money for this."
The Belarusian leader urged to do the work so that "Poleshuki would notice, and the whole of Belarus, that we are seriously engaged in Polesie."
In October, during the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the President of Belarus noted that it was impossible to restore the USSR, but its economic space must be preserved. In his opinion, it is necessary to increase the margin of strength of the economies of the CIS countries and focus on joint activities within the framework of the common market, while not returning to the Soviet Union.
