The bill on restrictions for pit bikes was developed in the State Duma
The State Duma has developed a bill to restrict the sale of pit bikes to children. He suggests that the sale of such two-wheeled vehicles will be allowed only if the minor has a certificate of graduation from motorcycle school, and he is intended to use this sports equipment. This was stated by the head of the Duma Committee on youth policy, Artem Metelev, RIA Novosti reported on November 18.
The bill also provides for a ban on riding pit bikes on public roads. Their use should be allowed only in special places designated for this purpose and designated by the Ministry of Sports.
In addition, the document stipulates a ban on the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel to minors (by analogy with the law on the prohibition of the sale of lighters), as well as labeling in the Honest Sign system of goods entering the Russian Federation. These measures will be discussed, in particular, with the Federation of Motor Sports, Motorsport, and the parent association, Metelev said.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry's BDD Research Center, 659 road accidents involving child drivers driving pitbikes were registered in the country from January to September. 23 child drivers were killed in them, and another 753 were injured. There were also 98 accidents involving children driving ATVs (five dead children and 117 injured).
Earlier, on October 17, the leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, said that the Russian government had supported proposals to introduce a ban on the operation of pit bikes on public roads and to punish adults for handing pit bikes to children in the Administrative Code.
