The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the court's decision on the building of the Russian Embassy in Canberra.

Russia will carefully study the decision of the Australian court, which did not retain the right to land for the construction of a new building of the Russian Embassy in Canberra in 2023. This was reported to RIA Novosti on November 18 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"At the moment, the court decision is being thoroughly analyzed by the Russian side in terms of both legal aspects and foreign policy consequences," the ministry said.

On November 12, the High Court of Australia recognized the law allowing the government to return the site for the construction of the Russian embassy in Canberra as valid. The court ruled that Russia is entitled to compensation for the termination of the lease agreement, and ordered the Australian government to pay half of the court costs of the Russian side.
