Sooner or later, Europe will have to negotiate directly with Russia. This was announced on November 17 by Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

"Whenever the moment for direct negotiations comes, and it will come sooner or later, it will need to be coordinated," he said in an interview with Politico, answering a question about the need for Europe to try to interact directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, on November 12, Stubb said that the dialogue between Russia and Europe would be resumed, but not all contacts and channels of interaction should be advertised. According to him, any contacts with Russia should be carefully coordinated between the EU countries, and their goals and format should be discussed jointly.

On November 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov agreed with Stubb's statement on the resumption of dialogue between Russia and Europe. However, Peskov noted that this was not a typical statement by the Finnish president.
