The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were engaged in looting on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which they were shelling. On November 17, the Izvestia correspondent was told about this by civilians of the city who managed to evacuate.

"We went to the apartment to pick up the last things, the documents that were left, we ran out very quickly because there was an attack on our house directly: windows flew out. <...> We entered the apartment, and it was already broken into <...>. We leave — there are two Ukrainian soldiers, one twitches his machine gun, says "come here," recalls one of the refugees in an interview with Evgeny Bykovsky.

According to him, as soon as he complied with the request and approached the Ukrainian soldier, he silently pointed the weapon in his face. They managed to get out only after the militant, in whose arsenal a crowbar and a backpack were also seen, was shown the identity documents of a civilian.

The refugee, who was helped to evacuate by Russian military personnel, clarifies that Ukrainian militants, probably in search of valuables, broke into all apartments from the first to the ninth floor. He added that he had heard how looters who were part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as part of their night raids, drove a car to some houses, which was "loaded with something."

"There were many such cases, they were looting (soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.) It's simple. We had two houses <...>. We just had it squeezed out (one of the houses. — Ed.): the lock on the house was knocked down <...>. An empty house — they knocked down the locks and came in, lived," another civilian shared.

Reproducing the events of those days, he added that he personally buried those residents of Krasnoarmeysk who died from attacks by Ukrainian drones. The victims, he said, included men who rode bicycles and a woman who hid from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under a tree. The evacuee, summing up his comment, stated that representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also forcibly evacuated his seven-year-old granddaughter and daughter-in-law to the Kirovograd region, and his son, who followed his family there, was mobilized right at the bus station a few days before the New Year.

Another man, whose hand was torn off as a result of mortar fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, added that the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were getting stronger, so the townspeople had to hide in basements much more often.

On November 18, another evacuee from Krasnoarmeysk pointed out in an interview with Izvestia correspondent Alexander Safiulin the difference in the attitude of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Armed Forces of Ukraine towards the residents of Krasnoarmeysk. According to him, the Ukrainian military mistreated civilians, calling them "waiting" and "enemies." On the contrary, Russian military personnel interacted well with civilians — they handed over food to them, and also promptly restored electricity and communications in the area.
