France criticized the decision to sell French Rafale fighter jets to Ukraine
The financial burden for Ukraine's purchase of Rafale fighter jets and other military equipment from France will fall on French taxpayers. This was stated on November 17 by the leader of the Patriots party, Florian Philippot, commenting on the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron.
"We will pay for Ukraine's purchase of Rafale planes, which we allegedly sell to them!" he wrote on the social network X.
Philippot noted that this scheme will cost France "billions", despite the fact that citizens are being offered to "tighten their belts." The politician also expressed fears that large cash injections would only increase "the already large corruption in Ukraine."
Filippo called for the termination of financial assistance to Kiev and attached to the publication a link to the petition "Not a single euro to Ukraine!" posted on the website of the Patriots party.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on the same day that the French authorities intend to provide additional military assistance to Kiev, which, in addition to 100 Rafale aircraft, will also include SAMP-T air defense systems, radars for air defense systems, missiles and aerial bombs. In addition, according to the Ukrainian leader, France has promised to supply Ukraine with 55 new electric locomotives.
Macron, in turn, said at a joint press conference with the Ukrainian leader that he hopes to end the conflict in Ukraine by 2027.
The leader of the right-wing Stand Up, France party, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, demanded that Macron be impeached because of his promise to transfer Rafale fighter jets to Kiev.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the deal to supply French Rafale fighter jets to Ukraine could be corrupt. Medvedev also wondered what European leaders would say when Zelensky was accused of corruption.
