Kremlin condemns militaristic statements from Europe
Russia does not want to enter into a confrontation with the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), but the country has to take the necessary measures to ensure its own security. This was announced on November 17 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
"There are no supporters of any confrontation with NATO in Russia, but we must take measures to ensure our security and our legitimate interests," Peskov stressed, commenting on the words of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius that a war between Russia and NATO could allegedly begin before 2029.
He added that such statements by Western politicians are related to the general militaristic rhetoric that dominates in NATO countries. According to Peskov, Pistorius' words only reflect the alliance's current approach to the issue of relations with Russia.
Earlier in the day, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Russia could allegedly attack one of the NATO states before 2029. According to him, these deadlines are getting earlier and earlier. So, the possibility of such a scenario has been discussed since 2028, and some analysts, as he noted, even consider the past summer to be the last peaceful one.
