Several Western countries, including the United Kingdom and France, have requested a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the situation in Ukraine. This was announced on November 17 at the British Permanent Mission to the United Nations, a statement quoted by TASS.

The meeting is expected to be held on Thursday, November 20 at 15:00 local time (23:00 Moscow time).

As noted, the issue of the situation in Ukraine is not on the permanent agenda of the UN Security Council, but such meetings are held almost monthly on the initiative of the member states.

Earlier, on October 24, the United States did not support Ukraine's statement about Russia's alleged violation of the UN Charter. 45 countries have joined the document, including Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Georgia, New Zealand, Slovakia, as well as the European Union (EU) as an association.
