Police officers managed to detain a man who barricaded himself in an apartment and took a woman and a child hostage in Pervouralsk, Sverdlovsk region. This was announced on November 17 by a source of Izvestia.

It is noted that no explosive devices were found in the detainee's possession.

Earlier that day, an eyewitness to the incident told Izvestia that in Pervouralsk, an unknown man took a woman and a child hostage, threatening to blow up the entrance to an apartment building. According to the woman, local residents have been evacuated, as security officers are preparing to storm the building. Another Izvestia source added that in 2001, the hostage taker was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
