Orban compared EU military aid to Ukraine to sending vodka to an alcoholic
Sending military aid to Ukraine from the European Union (EU) resembles an attempt to help an alcoholic by "sending him another case of vodka." This was announced on November 17 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, commenting on a letter from the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen requesting additional financial assistance to Kiev.
"Today I received a letter from [EC] President Ursula von der Leyen. She writes that Ukraine's funding gap is huge, and asks Member states to send more funds. <...> The whole story is a bit like trying to help an alcoholic by sending him another case of vodka. Hungary has not lost its common sense," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
