Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a meeting with his Indian counterpart Subramaniam Jaishankar on November 17, called his visit to Moscow timely.

"Your visit is very timely in terms of the upcoming <...> Russian-Indian summit in the Indian capital," Lavrov said.

The minister also noted that Jaishankar's program in the Russian capital will be intense. During the meeting with First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Jaishankar will discuss bilateral relations between Russia and India.

At today's meeting, the ministers focused on cooperation in the international arena within the framework of agreements between the foreign ministries.

The Economic Times newspaper reported on November 10 that Moscow and New Delhi plan to sign an agreement on labor mobility during the upcoming Russian-Indian summit to be held in India in December. According to the newspaper, the document is intended to simplify labor migration and will contribute to the growth of the number of Indian citizens working in Russia in the coming years.

Prior to that, on October 27, The Economic Times newspaper reported that Russia retained its position as the largest supplier of crude oil to India, providing a third of the country's total imports, despite an increase in purchases of American oil by Indian refineries. At the same time, according to the publication, Indian refineries continue to balance between energy security, economic efficiency and Washington's geopolitical demands.
