On November 17, Dutch athlete Femka Kok set a new world record in the 500 m race at the Speed Skating World Cup, which takes place in Salt Lake City in the USA.

It is noted that the girl completed the distance in 36.09 seconds, improving the previous record of South Korean speed skater Lee Sang-hwa (36.36), which had been held since November 2013.

Kok is 25 years old, she is a five—time world champion and three-time European champion.

American Olympic champion Erin Jackson took second place at the Salt Lake City World Cup, clocking 36.57 seconds. Lee Na—yoon from South Korea became the third with 37.03, Sport-Express adds.

Earlier, on October 5, Russian track and field athlete Evgeny Torsunov set a world record at the World Championships in Athletics among Paralympians in the long jump in the T36 class (sports classification for athletes with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders, but with preserved arm and leg functions).

In his best attempt, the athlete landed at 6.14 m.
