Yelets will be turned into the New Year's capital of the Lipetsk region

Yelets will become the main venue of the regional festival "Christmas Trees of the Lipetsk region" in the Lipetsk region. As part of the festival, New Year trees will be placed on the pedestrian street of Mira by participants representing 18 municipal districts and districts of the region.

According to Yelets Mayor Vyacheslav Zhabin, quoted by GOROD48, each Christmas tree should reflect the history, traditions and cultural heritage of the municipality.

The main feature of the festival is the opportunity to interactively vote for the best tree using QR codes. They will be placed on each track. The winner will be determined after the end of the holidays.

In early November, it was reported that in Yelets, the landscaping of the embankment on the right bank of the Bystrica Sosna River was resumed by a new contractor. The contract with the previous contractor, Aquaservice LLC, was terminated in August 2025 due to schedule delays. The company managed to complete works for 11.67 million rubles with a total contract value of 187.68 million rubles.
