The Northern Naval Military Court has sentenced a native of Severomorsk, Murmansk Region, to 14 years in a high-security penal colony for committing high treason and justifying terrorism. This was reported on November 17 in the regional FSB.
"It has been established that V.I. Mayer, born in 1998, being an opponent of a special military operation, entered into correspondence with a representative of one of the special services of Ukraine out of a selfish interest in the foreign messenger Telegram, after which he began to cooperate with him on a confidential basis, and also expressed his willingness to provide him with various kinds of information and other assistance in his activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.
The FSB said that the man was transmitting and collecting information about the facilities of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy located in the Leningrad region. In addition, he transferred funds to his Ukrainian supervisor, and published statements justifying terrorism on pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels.
The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Murmansk region has opened a criminal case under Articles 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("High treason") and Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism").
The attacker will serve a 14-year sentence in a strict regime penal colony. He is also prohibited from engaging in activities related to the administration of websites in information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet, for three years with a one-year restriction of liberty.
On the same day, it was reported that law enforcement agencies detained a resident of the Tula region, who transferred cryptocurrency to the armed forces of Ukraine. According to the FSB, a criminal case was opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"). The suspect was taken into custody.
