In the United States, former nurse Stacy Marklin learned that she had dementia at the age of 45. This is reported by the Daily Mirror newspaper.

"At first, I brushed off the forgetfulness due to pregnancy and the postpartum period. I said something like "move the carpet" instead of "close the curtain." It's so hard to believe at such a young age," the publication quotes her as saying.

However, after the birth of her son, the woman's memory did not improve, and she suspected she had Alzheimer's disease, but when she went to the doctor, she was told that this was unlikely due to the young age for this disease.

Marklin said that by this point, memory problems had become more serious and began to affect her work — sometimes she couldn't remember anything, and once she forgot a colleague. Then she decided to undergo a full examination, and it turned out that she had early dementia.

A woman gives injections that slow down the development of the disease. It is noted that the treatment slows down cognitive decline in patients with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Earlier, on November 13, Medical Xpress magazine reported that low-income people and representatives of racial and ethnic groups, historically underrepresented in clinical trials, are significantly more likely to have modifiable risk factors for dementia. The study involved more than 5,000 people, who were assessed according to 13 risk factors.
