In October of this year, 121.1 thousand car loans for new and used cars were issued in Russia. This is 1.4% less than in October last year, but 2.8% more than in September this year. This was announced on November 17 by the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI).

In comparison with the previous month, the volume of car loans issued also increased by 2.7%, to 182.4 billion rubles. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator increased by 8%.

The largest number of car loans were issued in Moscow (8.64 thousand units), the Moscow Region (8.13 thousand units) and the Republic of Tatarstan (6.53 thousand units). The largest decrease compared to the same period last year was recorded in Samara (-15.3%), Kemerovo (-14.6%), Tula (-11.1%) regions. The strongest growth was recorded in Tver (+21.8%), Saratov (+13.8%) and Kirov (+10.3%) regions.

The issuance of car loans is gradually increasing due to cheaper car loans (the market structure is changing in favor of more budget-friendly cars), subsidized rates from automakers, and expectations of rising car prices after changes in recycling charges, explained Alexey Volkov, Marketing Director at NBKI. At the same time, banks are increasing the requirements for the quality of credit histories of future borrowers, he said.

Earlier, on October 27, it became known that in September 2025, the average amount of car loans issued amounted to 1.46 million rubles, an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous month. This is the highest value in the last year, while the average car loan receipt has been growing for the seventh month in a row.
