The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to dislodge the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the western part of Kupyansk. This was announced on November 17 by the commander of the assault detachment of the 121st motorized Rifle regiment with the call sign Lavrik.
"The detachment continues to dislodge the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers from the western part of Kupyansk. Today, the cleanup of Vasilkovaya Street has been completed, it has completely come under our control," he said.
Lavrik also pointed out that Russian fighters are identifying the enemy, correcting artillery fire on the positions of the militants remaining in the forests near the liberated streets and along the Oskol River.
The soldier added that up to 10 Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters were killed during the fighting, and the enemy fighters are retreating.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces had thwarted two attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to unblock the district militants near Kupyansk. Up to 50 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, an M113 armored personnel carrier and a Senator armored fighting vehicle were destroyed. Four electronic warfare stations and seven vehicles were also hit.
On November 14, the commander of the assault company of the 121st Motorized Rifle Regiment with the call sign Snow reported that Russian troops had cleared the forest area east of Senkovskaya Street and established control over Prioskolnaya Street in Kupyansk. The commander noted that the fighters were attacking the positions of the Ukrainian forces in the forest area south of Prioskolnaya Street.
