Merz recalled Germany's historical responsibility on the day of national mourning
On the Day of National Mourning, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the country's special historical responsibility. He wrote about this on November 16 on his page on the social network X.
The event was attended by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Bundestag President Julia Kleckner.
"The world is fragile. The Day of National Mourning reminds us of our special historical responsibility. Right now, we need to recognize ourselves as a peaceful state and ensure our peace and our freedom by force," Merz wrote on his page on the social network X.
Earlier, on November 15, it was reported that German residents are less and less trusting the Chancellor and his government, which have not yet been able to offer solutions to the country's key economic and social problems. Bloomberg noted that the coming months will be critical for Merz, and the elections in five federal states will show whether it has been possible to strengthen the trust of voters.
