Russian servicemen told about the liberation of the village of Orestopol

The military personnel of the Vostok group of forces spoke about the operation in the area of the Orestopol settlement in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This was announced on November 17 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The assault units of the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade were able to advance more than 4 km and occupied the village, developing an offensive after the capture of Volchye. It is noted that the units blocked a large fortified area, and an area of more than 12 square kilometers was taken under control and more than 250 buildings were protected.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the advance was conducted under heavy fire, but the assault groups were able to keep up the pace. The commander of the unit with the call sign Tim said that the weather conditions helped to secretly enter the village.

"When we stopped by that day, the fog was very heavy — the weather conditions really helped us. We didn't waste any time: we immediately divided the village into sectors and began to clean up. The enemy could not help their own because of the fog, and they did not expect such pressure at all. <...> There were mercenaries - they, in fact, do not care about anything. <...> The main thing for them is paper, money and their own lives," he said.

Another soldier with the call sign Shved noted that the calculations were often moved to support the advancing groups and suppress enemy artillery.

"Both Grads and artillery were working on us, but we figured out where they were hitting from, and their guns were smashed right away," he added.

The enemy was surrounded for two weeks without food at Dimitrov's and laid down his arms after seeing the Russian instructions for surrender.

Earlier, on November 16, it was reported that assault units of the 114th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 127th Division of the Vostok group of forces had established control over Rovnopol in the Zaporizhia region. At that time, it was noted that the advance was carried out under heavy fire, and the units were able to occupy the central part of the village and continued their offensive operations.
