The poverty rate in Russia has almost tripled over the past three decades, the RANEPA reported on November 17, citing a new study. According to analysts, over the past 10 years, the indicator has decreased by more than one and a half times — from 13.3% to 7%. The academy also noted an increase in the total incomes of Russians, adjusted for inflation.

The study indicates that, despite the overall positive trends, the level of pensions compared to salaries was two percentage points lower in the first half of 2025. The RANEPA emphasized that the population has adapted to economic realities, referring to surveys on social well-being.

"In September 2025, 3% of respondents called social conditions very good, 17% rather good, 50% average, 20% rather bad and only 10% very bad," RIA Novosti reports.

The highest level of satisfaction with living conditions was recorded among Russians under the age of 34 and residents of small towns. The results of the study were presented at the conference "Science for Public Administration" at the Presidential Academy.

Earlier, on November 13, it was reported that low-income people and representatives of groups that have historically been underrepresented in clinical trials are more likely to face dementia risk factors. The authors of the study noted that a link has been identified, but a direct relationship to income, race, or ethnic origin has not been proven.
