- The media reported an increase in fuel prices in the United States due to sanctions against Russia
The EU and US sanctions against Russia, as well as the ongoing attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Russian refineries, have contributed to an increase in fuel prices in the United States. This was reported on November 16 by the Bloomberg news agency.
According to the newspaper, millions of barrels of gasoline and diesel fuel have disappeared on the global market due to shutdowns at key plants in Europe, Asia and the United States.
"Gasoline prices continue to rise, which is unlikely to please the US administration, which considers affordable energy to be necessary," Bloomberg notes.
The publication also says that the market is under pressure from US sanctions against Russian companies and the EU ban on the import of petroleum products, which will take effect from January 2026.
Earlier, on November 6, it was reported that US senators called on Hungary to abandon purchases of Russian energy resources ahead of a meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and US President Donald Trump. The congressmen expressed concern that Hungary continues to depend on Russian fuel and called on the country to join the European Union's initiative to stop importing Russian oil and gas by 2027. The resolution was signed by ten senators from both parties, emphasizing bipartisan agreement on energy policy.
