Guards Senior Sergeant Sergei Vdovin commanded an intelligence group in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). During the reconnaissance, the group came across two wounded Russian soldiers. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the special military operation zone on Monday, November 17.

The wounded suffered as a result of artillery shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Vdovin promptly provided first aid and organized the evacuation of the wounded to the rear for further treatment. During the reconnaissance, the group discovered several positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and adjusted the fire of the Russian artillery, which made it possible to advance deep into the enemy's defenses.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the bravery and professionalism of Guard Corporal Konstantin Chupin, who, as part of an assault group, was tasked with eliminating the enemy in a strongpoint with a fortified machine-gun position.

During the advance, the assault group came under artillery fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Chupin promptly organized the evacuation of the wounded, and then continued his advance. He quickly got close to the stronghold, avoiding artillery fire, but came under machine-gun fire. Chupin escaped the shelling, managed to destroy a machine—gun emplacement, and then attacked the enemy from the flank with grenades. For seven days, he held his position, ensuring the safe advance of the assault groups in the area.

Earlier, on November 16, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told how Guard Sergeant Ivan Shatalov, as an orderly driver of a medical company's receiving and sorting platoon, performed the task of evacuating wounded servicemen to the DPR as part of an evacuation group.
