- The court refused to commute the punishment to the former deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor Mitvol
The court refused to commute the sentence for Oleg Mitvol, ex-deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor, who is serving a prison sentence in the case of embezzlement of more than 900 million rubles. This became known from the case file on November 16.
"The resolution of the Kolomna City Court regarding Mitvol should remain unchanged, and the lawyer's appeal should be dismissed," RIA Novosti quotes a fragment of the document.
The lawyer of the ex-official pointed out that during the time of serving his sentence, Mitvol was not brought to disciplinary responsibility, repented, and also received one encouragement. However, the court refused to grant the petition, which was also not supported by the prosecutor.
Earlier, on September 23, the court denied Mitvol's early release. As the convict himself explained during the meeting, his salary in the correctional institution is 15 thousand rubles. With such an income, it would take him an extremely long time to fully repay the damage exceeding 900 million rubles.
Mitvol was sentenced in September 2023 by the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Krasnoyarsk to 4.5 years in prison for embezzlement of more than 900 million rubles allocated for the construction of the metro in Krasnoyarsk. The Board of Directors of JSC Krasnoyarsk Trust of Engineering and Construction Surveys (TISIZ), headed by him, was involved in the project. In the spring of 2024, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court upheld the verdict.
