There are no prerequisites for raising the retirement age in Russia. This was announced on November 16 by State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab.

"There are no prerequisites for changing the retirement age, and my colleagues and I have repeatedly stressed this," Bessarab wrote on her Telegram channel.

According to her, citizens who have reached retirement age can both retire and continue to work. The MP noted that those pensioners who continue to work should choose whether to receive a pension and in this case the income will increase, but after the end of work the pension will not increase significantly.

"If you work, but delay receiving a pension, you can increase the pension amount by about 40% over five years. If you continue to work for 10 years, the pension will more than double," she said.

On the same day, Bessarab announced that citizens can double the amount of their pension if they postpone retirement for 10 years. She added that if retirement is postponed, individual pension coefficients will be indexed by 2.32 times, and the fixed part by 2.11 times.

Prior to that, on November 15, it was reported that State Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov proposed simplifying the procedure for early retirement for citizens with increased experience. He noted that changes in the rules for calculating insurance experience in 2024 temporarily limited the exercise of the right to retire two years earlier, and clarification of regulations is required to restore fairness.
