The strike group of the US Navy, led by the largest aircraft carrier in the world, the USS Gerald R. Ford, entered the waters of the Caribbean Sea. The relevant information was published on the official website of the United States Navy on November 16.

"The strike group of the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, led by the world's largest aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), passed through the Anegada Strait and entered the Caribbean Sea on November 16," the statement said.

According to the navy, dozens of tactical aircraft are stationed on board the aircraft carrier, and the crew consists of about 4 thousand military personnel.

Earlier, on October 12, The Guardian newspaper reported that aggressive US actions against Venezuela could turn against Washington's interests. According to the newspaper, the United States deployed the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford with 4,000 sailors and 90 aircraft in the region, which is seen as an attempt to put pressure on President Nicolas Maduro. In response, Venezuela deployed 200,000 troops and received Russian air defense systems.

On October 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Russia continues to support the Venezuelan leadership in protecting national sovereignty and is ready to respond to possible threats. She also stressed that the two countries will continue to work together "shoulder to shoulder."
