F1 driver Daniil Kvyat lost to an unmanned car in the race at Yas Marina
Russian Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat lost to an unmanned car in the AI versus human race held in Abu Dhabi. This was reported on November 15 by the RIA Novosti news agency.
It is noted that Kvyat was defeated for the first time in a series of similar races with unmanned A2RL cars at the Yas Marina circuit. Earlier in April 2024, the racer beat the car controlled by artificial intelligence. Later in the November race, an unmanned car crashed into a guardrail and was unable to continue the race.
Kvyat participated in Formula 1 races from 2013 to 2017 and from 2019 to 2020. In July 2015, Kvyat entered the history of Russian motorsport by taking second place at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Earlier, on August 8, it was reported that the OpenAI o3 model defeated Grok, developed by the company of American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk xAI, in the final of the artificial intelligence (AI) chess tournament. It was noted that tech giants have long used chess to evaluate the progress and capabilities of computer systems, and modern chess machines are virtually invincible even for the best grandmasters. According to the BBC, despite the fact that AI models have achieved significant success in solving everyday tasks, they still "have a lot to grow" in chess.
