Salt Lake City, Utah, District Attorney Sim Gill declined to press charges against Tim Ballard, the founder of an anti-child trafficking organization, after several women filed sexual assault lawsuits. This was reported on November 16 by the Associated Press (AP).

"This does not mean that we do not believe or belittle the victim's story, but rather that the law requires strong enough evidence to dispel all reasonable doubts from the jury," Gill said.

According to the district attorney, the evidence gathered is "insufficient."

In two lawsuits, the women accused Ballard of using his position as the founder of Operation Underground Railroad and their desire to help combat child trafficking to abuse them.

One lawsuit has been dismissed, an appeal is pending, and the other is still in force.

In August, broadcaster NRK reported that the Oslo Prosecutor's office had charged the eldest son of Crown Princess of Norway, Mette-Marit Marius Borg Heibi, with 32 counts, four of which relate to rape. The royal origin of the Crown Princess' son does not provide grounds for commuting the sentence. According to NRK, he faces up to 10 years in prison on the charges.
