Many buyers still rate household chemicals by their smell and ability to form foam, but such signs often indicate the presence of aggressive components. This was announced on November 16 by Gazeta.Ru" expert and founder of the Allchemica company Alexey Baichurin.

According to him, the rich aroma and thick foam may indicate a high content of odor enhancers, flavors and surfactants.

"Some of the most common are phosphates added to washing powders and tablets for dishwashers. They soften water and enhance the effect of surfactants, but at the same time they accumulate in the body and harm the environment. Phosphate residues, entering reservoirs, cause "blooming of water" and death of fish," the expert noted.

He added that phenols, formaldehyde compounds, chlorine and phthalates are also found in some formulations and can irritate the skin, respiratory tract or affect the hormonal background.

The expert explained that safe formulas are created on the basis of plant surfactants and do not require aggressive additives. Essential oils are preferred as flavorings, and preservatives can be similar to those used in the food industry. Baichurin stressed that safety-oriented manufacturers do not hide their compositions and receive international environmental certificates.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that some tablets for dishwashers may contain irritating components that affect the microflora and cause allergic reactions. Experts recommended choosing products with milder formulas and strictly following the instructions for use.
