An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred off the coast of Kamchatka
An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 was recorded on Sunday afternoon in the Pacific Ocean off the eastern coast of Kamchatka. This was announced on November 16 at the regional branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to experts, the epicenter was located about 113 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and the depth of the center was about 20 km under the seabed.
Earlier, on November 15, increased volcanic activity was reported in the region. The Krasheninnikov volcano spewed ash to a height of about 2.7 km. At the same time, the ash plume stretched for 40 km in a southwesterly direction. The volcano was assigned an orange aviation code due to the potential threat to transportation.
