Migrants have turned a river in the UK into a multi-ton landfill for household waste
The Cherwell River in Oxfordshire has turned into a multi-ton landfill of household waste, which poses a threat to the environment and public health. This was announced on November 15 by the BBC television channel.
"Every day increases the risk of toxic runoff entering the river system, poisoning wildlife and threatening the health of the entire catchment area," said Laura Reinecke, director general of the Friends of the Thames charity.
According to media reports, the garbage pile weighs several tons and has begun to heat up, which can cause a large fire. Official sources attribute the appearance of the dump to the activities of an organized criminal group, but social media users point to the massive dumping of waste by migrants from India and Pakistan.
Earlier, on August 20, it was reported about pollution of the Mediterranean Sea near the Turkish city of Alanya, which threatens the flora, fauna and health of tourists. Experts noted that agricultural waste, tourist activity and climate change lead to the problem.
