The International Olympic Committee (IOC) ignores the principles of the Olympic movement for the sake of Russophobia. This was announced to journalists on November 15 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

According to Zakharova, the IOC is coming up with excuses to prevent correspondents from Russia from covering the Olympics. This practice has become repetitive. She recalled that in 2024, the organizing committee of the Paris Olympics denied access to journalists from Russia, referring to the decision of the French authorities. As Zakharova notes, at that time the IOC presented itself as a "resigned executor" of the position of the host country.

"The IOC continues to disregard the fundamental principles of the Olympic movement in favor of the Russophobic policies of the West," RIA Novosti quoted Zakharova as saying.

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Olympic Sports (ROC), said that the organization would send a note to the IOC demanding that sanctions be applied to Poland for the non-admission of Russian swimmers to the European Short Course Championships. As the head of the ROC noted, the IOC promptly imposed sanctions against Indonesia after refusing to issue visas to Israeli gymnasts, but in the case of Poland, there was not even a formal condemnation. Degtyarev described this situation as a manifestation of double standards.
