The State Duma proposed to ban the sale of alcohol-imitating products to children
The State Duma is discussing the possible introduction of restrictions on the sale of alcohol-free products imitating alcohol to minors. This was announced on November 15 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
"In recent years, there has been an increase in sales of alcohol—free products imitating alcohol <...> And this is not harmless lemonade or juice, as it may seem at first glance," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to Volodin, children's consumption of such products can lead to the formation of addiction to alcoholic beverages, ritual imitation of adult behavior, unhealthy interest in alcohol.
It is noted that the State Duma decided to take the initiative due to the fact that alcohol-imitating products "adversely affect" the psyche of minors.
Earlier, on October 13, the head of the National Parent Committee, Irina Volynets, sent a proposal to the relevant State Duma committee to ban the sale of sugary carbonated drinks to minors. According to her, the sugar level in such drinks exceeds the permissible norm, which can lead to obesity. He believes that the ban on the sale of sugary sodas should be regulated in the same way as energy drinks.
