Trump confirms decision to conduct nuclear tests
US President Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to resume nuclear testing. He stated this on November 14 during a broadcast posted on the White House YouTube channel.
According to him, Washington cannot abandon such measures while other countries are taking similar actions.
"We're going to have nuclear tests because other people are testing," he told reporters during a trip to Florida.
Trump added that he considers denuclearization "the best solution in the field of arms control."
Earlier, on October 29, it was reported that Trump instructed the Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons "on an equal basis." The US Department of Energy explained that these are subcritical tests that are conducted without nuclear explosions and are designed to verify the reliability and upgrade of the arsenal.
