Trump signed a decree on the abolition of duties on a number of food products
US President Donald Trump has lifted import duties on a number of food products. The corresponding decree was published on the White House website on November 14.
"The President has decided that some agricultural products will no longer be subject to reciprocal duties. Among them: coffee and tea, tropical fruits and fruit juices, cocoa and spices, bananas, oranges and tomatoes, beef and additional fertilizers," the document says.
It is noted that the duties have been lifted for products that are not produced in sufficient quantities in the United States.
On October 14, it was reported that Switzerland announced an agreement with the United States to reduce the 39% duty imposed by Washington on Swiss exports to 15%.
On November 10, Trump warned that Washington could be forced to return more than $2 trillion to trading partners if the duties imposed by his administration were found to be illegal by the Supreme Court.
