- The Bundestag pointed to the damage to the German economy due to anti-Russian sanctions
Due to the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, Germany is forced to buy oil and gas at twice inflated prices, which damages the country's well-being. This was stated on November 14 by Bundestag deputy Stefan Cotre in an interview with Izvestia on the sidelines of the BRICS–Europe summit in Sochi.
"In Germany, due to high energy prices, we are currently experiencing the process of "Australization". Companies no longer manufacture products in Germany, but transfer them. This is partly due to the sanctions policy, but also to other factors. However, this sanctions policy also makes gas and oil more expensive, and we simply lose our wealth," he said.
The politician noted that it is possible to purchase energy resources from other places, while "it is completely absurd to receive Russian gas through Kazakhstan or Russian oil through India," which, according to him, is happening. This practice leads to a situation where Germany is forced to "lose its wealth" and pay twice as much for energy resources.
"Such a policy is completely insane and directed against citizens," the parliamentarian stated.
On October 24, the German government asked the United States to ease sanctions against subsidiaries of the Russian oil company Rosneft located on German territory. It is specified that we are talking about three oil refineries, including the strategically important Raffinerie Schwedt refinery in Schwedt, located on the Druzhba oil pipeline.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on October 23 that a German-controlled but Russian-owned division of Rosneft could be excluded from the US sanctions list. He noted that this company is a key supplier of oil to German gas stations and major airports.
