The Third Committee of the UN General Assembly has approved a resolution submitted by Russia on combating the glorification of Nazism and modern forms of racial discrimination. The document was supported by 114 states, while 52 countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan and Ukraine, voted against. Another 12 delegations abstained, it was reported on November 14.

TASS notes that the resolution is intended to "prevent a revision of the outcome of the Second World War" and strengthen international efforts to prevent propaganda of racism and xenophobia. The document condemns the dissemination of materials and rhetoric inciting national and religious hatred, and welcomes initiatives to preserve historical memory.

Russia has been submitting a draft of this resolution annually since 2005.
