More than 500 flights have been completed on the new diametral tram route T1 in Moscow, the total mileage of the rolling stock has exceeded 13 thousand km. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

The route has become one of the key directions of the urban transport network, providing a direct and accelerated connection between the eastern and southwestern districts of the capital through the central part of the city.

"Most recently, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the longest urban diametrical tram route in the world. The first MTD line has already proved its convenience and relevance. Passengers have made more than 100 thousand trips on it. We continue to develop eco—friendly and innovative transport in the capital," explained Maxim Liksutov.

Route T1 runs from the Metro Town to the University metro station, its length is 27 km. The route operates according to the standards of the skytrain, which implies an increased frequency of movement, schedule stability and an improved level of comfort for passengers. The new route connects 13 districts of the capital, passes through four major railway stations and provides access to 24 metro stations, the MCC and the MCC.

Traffic is organized through major transfer hubs, including the metro stations "Boulevard Rokossovsky", "Preobrazhenskaya Square", "Sokolniki", "Krasnoselskaya", "Komsomolskaya", "Chistye Prudy", "Novokuznetsk", "Tretyakovskaya", "Paveletskaya", as well as the MCD Mitkovo and the Area of three railway stations. The route continues through the Serpukhovskaya Zastava area, Tulskaya, Leninsky Prospekt and Lomonosovsky Prospekt stations (Vavilovskaya metro station) and ends at the University metro station.

The line operates the latest trams "Lion Cub-Moscow" with the possibility of autonomous running. They pass a 2.1 km long section along Akademika Sakharova Avenue without connecting to the contact network, which allows for continuity of traffic on sections of complex infrastructure and expands the technological capabilities of the urban tram system.
