In Maryland, USA, 24-year-old woman Romechia Simms drove her three-year-old son on a swing in a park for almost two days until the child died. This was reported on November 14 by the Mirror newspaper.

According to the court, this happened in 2015, Simms suffered from schizophrenia and was in remission when she went to the park with her son, but her mental state deteriorated sharply. According to the autopsy results, the cause of the boy's death was dehydration and hypothermia.

"In 2016, Simms avoided jail time [in this case], and a Maryland judge ordered her to adhere to a medication regimen and attend psychiatric appointments as part of a court—sanctioned deal," the publication says.

In memory of the deceased boy, the woman's relatives created a charitable foundation to draw attention to the problems of people with mental disorders.

Earlier, on October 2, People magazine reported that Candice Grace, a 32-year-old mother with many children, was blamed for the death of her 7-year-old son Maisie Simmons in the US state of Georgia. The glass of the car from the rear passenger seat pressed the boy's throat, the boy's mother was sleeping in the front seat of the car at that time.
