Sobyanin summed up the results of the second stage of improvement of Sokolniki Park

The second stage of the improvement of the Sokolniki Park in the capital is coming to an end, and on December 1 the park will be open to visitors. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his channel in the MACH messenger.

Work on the improvement of one of the oldest parks in Moscow has been going on for two years, said the mayor of the capital. According to the plan, comprehensive landscaping and rehabilitation will affect 75% of the territory and facilities of Sokolniki. As part of the first stage of rehabilitation work, the beach and walking area, as well as a number of other facilities, were improved. As part of the second stage, specialists restored the parterre area from the arch of the Main Entrance to the Festival Square, including the historical colonnade, the main alley and the flower stalls. Catering pavilions have been set up on Fontannaya Square, new benches and swings have been installed. In addition, there will be an amphitheater.

The historic concert and dance venues, including the Central Bandstand, as well as the Chaliapin Bandstand, the Dance Veranda and the Rotunda, which will be completely renovated, have been put in order. A single leisure space has been created near the Golden Pond and the former pumping station, and the Health Trail has been updated. The renovated park will also feature the Orbita Sports and leisure center with a trampoline center, a cyber club and an all-season skate park, an updated Ice rink and the Moscow Zoo Bird Recovery and Rehabilitation Center.

According to Sobyanin, the third stage of the Sokolniki landscaping will be held next year. It will include an area of over 200 hectares, on which such facilities as the Lilac Garden, the cascades of the Putyaevsky and Deer Ponds, and the Nizhny Maysky Pond are located.
