- The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the lack of prospects for restoring dialogue with the Baltic States.
There are no prospects for restoring Russia's dialogue with the Baltic states. This was announced on November 14 at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"There are no prospects for restoring dialogue [with the Baltic states] at this stage," Zakharova said.
According to her, the authorities of the Baltic republics are consistently pursuing a policy of total and violent desertion of the public, cultural and educational spaces of the states. The diplomat noted that Tallinn, Vilnius and Riga are still pursuing an aggressive policy towards the Russian Federation, and diplomatic interaction has been minimized, and almost all consulates General of the Russian Federation in these countries have ceased operations.
"The interstate dialogue has been completely stopped, and key mechanisms of bilateral cooperation have been curtailed," Zakharova stressed.
Earlier, on November 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Baltic countries overestimate their importance for Western Europe. He stressed that the Baltic countries in the EU were given the task of doing as much abomination as possible in relations with Russia.
Prior to that, on September 22, Financial Times (FT) columnist Gideon Rahman reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump called the Baltic States aggressive towards Russia. He noted that Washington is complaining about the "Estonification" of European foreign policy.
