Kallas reported on the EU's work on the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions
The European Union (EU) is currently working on the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on November 14 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.
"Work on the 20th package of sanctions is already underway," Kallas said at a press conference.
According to her, the imposed sanctions can work more effectively if they are supported by the EU's foreign partners. The diplomat stressed that the sanctions against Russia allegedly hit the weak points.
Earlier, on November 10, the representative of the EU Foreign Policy Service, Anitta Hipper, said that the European Commission (EC) could not name the dates for the preparation of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, but was actively working on it.
Prior to that, on November 8, Tomasz Zdechowski, a member of the European Parliament, told Izvestia that the EU wanted to speed up discussions on the 20th package of sanctions. However, it is still unclear whether it will be adopted by the end of 2025. The parliamentarian added that the decision depends on the course of negotiations and the ability of all member states to reach a consensus.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted on November 6 that EU countries are likely to continue to invent new restrictions against Russians, exacerbating the current situation with additional elements.
