The radiation background at the site of the Novovoronezh NPP has not changed after the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces

As a result of an attack by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the night of November 13, auxiliary electrical equipment of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was damaged. At the same time, the radiation background at the industrial site did not change. This was reported by the regional authorities and operational services. Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, told about this on November 14.

"The radiation background at the industrial site of the Novovoronezh NPP and the surrounding area has not changed and corresponds to natural values. By now, the operation of all power units has been restored," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to updated data, the air defense forces on duty and electronic warfare equipment destroyed and suppressed eight Ukrainian drones. Debris from one of the vehicles fell near the station, causing damage to equipment related to power supply.

As specified, several power units were automatically disconnected from the grid. At the same time, one of them continued to operate at full capacity in the normal mode.

Earlier in the day, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev spoke about the resumption of work at the Novovoronezh NPP after the drone attack on the night of November 12-13. He also noted that the Russian energy system has not experienced significant consequences due to the actions of network operators and the stability of the plant's equipment.

Prior to that, on October 17, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had tried to attack Russian nuclear power plants at least 19 times from July to September. According to him, in October, another nuclear power plant, Novovoronezh, was added to this list. She was attacked by a Ukrainian drone on October 7, which targeted the cooling tower of the sixth power unit.
