Two new reindeer meat harvesting complexes will be launched in Yamal this autumn. In the current 2025, it is planned to harvest about 3.5 thousand tons of products, the press service of the district government reports.
The first one is located in the Tazovsky district, near the Messoyakha River. The location was chosen taking into account the routes of reindeer herders of the Taz and Gydan tundras. The workshop has already started work, its capacity is up to 3.5 tons of meat per shift. It is expected that about 100 tons of product per season will be harvested here.
The second slaughter complex with a capacity of up to 4 tons of venison per shift is located in Samburg, Purovsky district. It is designed for reindeer herders of the Purovsky State Farm and includes several workshops for slaughtering, processing and storing raw materials, as well as an administrative module for employees. The company will be launched in the coming days.
In 2025, venison harvesting will be carried out at 16 slaughter complexes in Yamal, writes the news agency " <url>". More than 50 veterinary specialists ensure the safety and quality of products at all stages of the slaughter campaign.
The main consumers of meat are the municipal health and education institutions of the region. So, in 2026, it is planned to purchase minced meat, canned food and venison for 34.4 million rubles for colleges, hospitals and psychiatric clinics.
Earlier it was reported that the Nenets Autonomous District is preparing to launch a project to create a workshop for the deep processing of by-products of reindeer husbandry. Collagen, a valuable raw material for pharmaceuticals and industry, will be produced from reindeer bones, skins and horns.
