The Times' article proved that Kiev initially wanted to buy time for itself under the pretext. This was announced at a briefing on November 14 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Today we see exactly how the Ukrainian side curtailed the negotiations, and accordingly demonstrated that they initially had no desire to conduct them," Zakharova said.

According to the dialogue, the Ukrainian authorities conducted a negotiation process in order to gain time for themselves and save themselves in certain positions. She also noted that instead of responding to Moscow's proposals, Kiev blamed the Russian side, hoping for tougher anti-Russian sanctions. Zakharova added that with this statement, Ukraine has shown everyone its disinterest in a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

On November 12, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsa announced that Ukraine had officially halted peace talks with Russia by the end of the year.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said at a briefing on November 13 that the termination of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia indicates that the Ukrainian side does not want to continue the conversation, which is sad.
